About Music Guesser

Music Guesser is a Bollywood music quiz. It plays a sliver of a Hindi film song and you name it — as fast as you can, from as little as a tenth of a second of audio.

How a round works

Press play and you hear 0.1 seconds of the song. Search the title in the box and pick it. Every wrong guess — or a skip — unlocks more of the clip and costs you a try. You get six tries in all.

The clip lengthens on this schedule:

0.1s → 0.5s → 1s → 3s → 5s → 10s

Scoring

The earlier you get it, the more you score. A miss scores nothing.

Correct on tryPoints
1st (0.1s)100
2nd (0.5s)80
3rd (1s)60
4th (3s)40
5th (5s)20
6th (10s)10

Your total score, streak and guess breakdown build up as you play. Get a song right and the full clip plays while your points are tallied.

Where the music comes from

Each song is matched to its official 30-second preview from the Apple Music India catalogue (with Deezer as a backstop). The clips stream straight from those services and are used only to identify the track.

Frequently asked questions

What is Music Guesser?

Music Guesser is a free browser game where you identify a Bollywood (Hindi film) song from a short audio clip. The clip starts at 0.1 seconds and gets longer with each wrong guess. It's a Bollywood take on the Heardle format.

How is it different from Wordle or Heardle?

Wordle is about words; Music Guesser is about sound. Like the original Heardle you get a growing snippet of a song and six tries, but every track here is from Hindi cinema and you pick the answer from a searchable list rather than typing letters.

How many guesses do I get?

Six. Each wrong guess or skip unlocks more of the clip, from 0.1 seconds up to 10 seconds.

How is the score calculated?

You score by how early you get it: 100 points on the first try, then 80, 60, 40, 20, and 10 on the sixth. A miss scores 0. Your total, streak and guess breakdown are saved in your browser.

Where do the song clips come from?

Each song is matched to its official 30-second preview from the Apple Music India catalogue, with Deezer as a fallback. The clips stream directly from those services and are used only to identify the track.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It's completely free with no account, no sign-up and no ads. There is no analytics or tracking — your scores live only in your browser's local storage.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Music Guesser runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser; nothing to install.
